The live map is now a 3D globe

Everything else has been getting updates, so the live map deserved some love too. It's now fully 3D: a real globe, the way Earth is meant to look. Spin it around, find your town, and see who's online and where, all in real time. Honestly, it's 100x better.

What's new

A real globeSpin the whole planet, then zoom in and it flattens out into the map you know.
Prefer the old look?Hit Flat at the bottom of the screen and you're back on the classic flat map. It remembers your choice.
Claims join upClaims that touch now show as one territory instead of a grid of little boxes, and the colours have been refreshed.
Better country flagsEvery country's flag has been redrawn in more detail, so it's easy to tell who owns what at a glance.
Banners for clansClan icons are now Minecraft banners, planted right on the map.
Clan cardsClick a clan to see its leader, who's online, its KDR, its allies and how much land it holds.

Every country, redrawn

The country flags on the map are far more detailed now. Here are a few of them:

The Trial Chambers have awakened

The Trial Chambers used to be a quick loot run. Not any more. They've been rebuilt from the ground up into a real challenge: a guard at the gate, waves of mobs, five bosses, elite mobs with special powers, random twists every run, and a rank you'll be climbing for a long time. Oh, and the Autumn Crate Key is waiting in the vault, so it's worth the grind.

To get there, finish the Trial Chamber quests in /quests, then use /warp trialchamber.

How a run works

  1. 1Beat the WardenA guard boss seals the chambers. Take him down as a team.
  2. 2Pick a chamberEvery chamber opens for 20 minutes once he falls.
  3. 3Survive 9 wavesEach wave is bigger and meaner than the last.
  4. 4Fight the bossesWaves 3, 6 and 9 are boss fights.
  5. 5Loot the vaultConquer the chamber and claim your rewards.

The Chamber Warden

A guard boss now patrols the corridor to the chambers. While he's alive, every chamber is sealed: nothing spawns, no trial can start and the vaults stay shut. Beat him and every chamber opens for 20 minutes, and everyone who helped gets a Trial Key. When time's up he comes back and seals them again, but any trial already running carries on. He hits hard and slowly heals when nobody's around, so bring friends.

Nine waves per chamber

Step into an open chamber and the spawners wake up. A bar at the top of your screen shows how many mobs are left. Every wave brings more and stronger mobs, and clearing one heals your group and gives you a short breather. Beat wave 9 to conquer the chamber: fireworks, a Trial Key and a shout-out to the whole server.

Five bosses

Waves 3, 6 and 9 are boss fights. Each boss climbs out of a spawner with its own health bar and tricks:

Tempest, the Howling GaleA Breeze that fires volleys of wind charges and blasts everyone nearby away.
The Bog SovereignRains poison arrows on an area and leaves toxic clouds behind.
Copperclad JuggernautLeaps up, slams the ground, then charges whoever is furthest away.
Vexa, the Brood MotherTraps you in cobwebs and calls in swarms of cave spiders.
The Rimeborn MarksmanFreezes everyone nearby and teleports behind you.
  • Watch the ground. Big attacks show a coloured ring first: that's your cue to move.
  • Expect backup. Bosses call in helpers at two-thirds and one-third health.
  • Finish them fast. At low health they get angry: faster, stronger and more aggressive.

Elite mobs

Some mobs spawn as elites, marked with a ✦ and up to three special powers in their name. They drop extra XP and sometimes a Trial Key.

  • Swiftmuch faster
  • Brutalbigger, hits harder
  • Vampiricheals when it hits you
  • Moltensets you on fire
  • Frostbiteslows and freezes you
  • Venomouspoisons you
  • Volatileexplodes after dying
  • Shieldedextra protection
  • Galebornlaunches you into the air
  • Splittingsplits in two when killed
  • Undyingcomes back to life once

No two runs are the same

Every trial starts by rolling a random twist (hover over it in chat to see what it does). Higher ranked groups get more of them, up to four at once:

  • Bloodlustmobs hit 25% harder
  • Fortifiedmobs have 40% more health
  • Frenzymobs are 20% faster
  • Elite Huntfar more elites
  • Galeevery hit launches you up
  • Leechingmobs heal as they hit you
  • Glass Cannonyou deal and take 35% more
  • Darknessthe lights keep going out
  • Famineno healing between waves
  • Unstableslain mobs may explode
  • Momentumlonger, bigger combos
  • Golden Trialdouble keys, tougher mobs

And from wave 2 onwards, any wave can turn into a special one:

Elite SurgeElites everywhere, and 50% more score for the wave.
SwarmLoads more mobs: weaker, but faster.
BlitzClear the wave before the timer runs out to win a Trial Key.
Treasure BreezeA glowing Breeze tries to escape. Catch it for Trial Keys!

Trial Rank: the long climb

Conquering chambers earns you Trial Rank: 20 ranks, each shown as a coloured star badge next to your name. We're still deciding whether it shows in the TAB list or under your name, so stay tuned! Reaching the top takes 99 wins, so this one is for the dedicated.

β˜…BronzeRanks 1–32 wins each
β˜…β˜…SilverRanks 4–63 wins each
β˜…β˜…β˜…GoldRanks 7–94 wins each
β˜…EmeraldRanks 10–125 wins each
β˜…β˜…DiamondRanks 13–156 wins each
β˜…β˜…β˜…CrystalRanks 16–187 wins each
✦✦✦CrystalRank 198 wins
βœͺβœͺβœͺMax rankRank 2010 wins

A win only counts towards your rank if:

  • the trial was at your rank or higher (so you can't climb by carrying lower-ranked players),
  • you died at most once during the run, and
  • you were there by wave 2. Joining just for the final boss doesn't count.

Losing a trial costs you one win of progress, but you'll never drop a whole rank. Higher ranks mean tougher mobs and bosses, and more Trial Keys to make up for it. After every run you'll get a summary with your score, kills, best combo and the run's MVP.

Rewards

Everything pays out in Trial Keys: beating the Warden, bosses, conquering a chamber, Blitz waves, catching a Treasure Breeze and sometimes elites. Use them on the vaults, which is where the real loot lives, including the Autumn Crate Key. Each vault can be opened once every 24 hours.

Check your progress with /trials stats, see the leaderboards with /trials top, and see your current run with /trials info. /tt works as a shortcut.

Clan updates

Banner icons

Your clan's icon on the map is now a banner, and there are 16 of them, one for every Minecraft dye colour. Change yours with /clanmap icon, which opens a menu showing each banner. You'll need a clan icon voucher to swap it.

Clan warps

Every clan can now set up one public warp that anyone can visit. Show off your base, your shop or your arena!

  • Visit one: /clan warp opens a menu of every open warp. Or type /clan warp <tag> and press Tab to see them all.
  • Set yours: clan leaders use /clan setwarp where they're standing. It only costs $10,000.
  • Open or close it: /clan togglewarp closes it to visitors without losing the spot.
  • Remove it: /clan delwarp.

Leaders can also let trusted ranks manage the warp. The clan menu (/clan) has had a refresh too: a Clan Warps button, real banners in the ally and rival lists, and a check before you end an alliance or rivalry.

NATO vs SCO

Two rival super-alliances have arrived on the Earth SMP. Clans can pick a side, fight alongside their allies, and help steer where the alliance goes next.

β˜…NATO
VS
βœͺSCO

Joining a side

  • Your clan leader sets your alliance HQ, then joins with /clan nato join or /clan sco join.
  • It costs $1,000,000 from the clan bank.
  • Each alliance holds up to 12 clans, and a clan can only be on one side. Choose wisely!
  • The whole server hears about it when a clan joins.

What you get

Instant alliesEvery clan on your side becomes your ally automatically.
Instant rivalsEvery clan on the other side becomes your rival.
No friendly fireYou can't hurt members of your own alliance.
Your symbol everywhereβ˜… or βœͺ shows next to your clan in the leaderboard, the clan list, the warp list and even death messages.
Alliance chatA private channel for every clan on your side.
A say in the futureLeaders vote on proposals at the weekly alliance meeting.

Talk to your side with /clan nato chat <message>, or /clan nato chat toggle to send everything there. See who's in with /clan nato members. (SCO members use sco in place of nato.)

Weekly alliance meetings

Every Saturday at 18:00 Dubai time (14:00 UTC), each alliance holds a one-hour meeting at a member clan's HQ, and a different clan hosts every week. Before the meeting, clan leaders can put forward ideas, or a vote to remove a clan. During the meeting, leaders vote with /clan nato vote. A proposal passes when more clans agree than disagree and at least half the alliance has voted.

Stay active! A clan with nobody online for 14 days is removed from its alliance (leaders get a warning first), and a removed clan has to wait 7 days to rejoin. Leaders can leave any time with /clan nato leave, but there's no refund.

Rent out your market

Got a market you're not using? You can now rent it out to another player and earn money while you're at it. Congrats, you're a landlord now!

  • Rent yours out: /as rentout <shop> <price> <duration> hands your whole shop to another player for a while, and they pay you for it.
  • Find one to rent: /as rentfrom shows every shop other players are offering.
  • It's still yours. You stay the owner, you can take it back whenever you want, and it comes back to you on its own when their time runs out.

Shops can also have proper names now, so you'll see β€œBakery” instead of β€œmarket_47”. New to all this? /as guide opens a menu that explains everything in plain words.

Better voting rewards

Voting for KiwiSMP now grants money vouchers from the Vote Crate, worth anywhere from $250 all the way up to $10,000. It only takes a minute, and it helps new players find the server too.

Builders, this one's for you: on the Creative server, every vote now unlocks one hour of WorldEdit perks and custom heads. Vote, then go build something big.
